MATHURA VRINDAVAN PUNYA DHAMA YATRA
Kerala—via train (2days)—-Mathura—(2 hrs travel)—Vrindavan 5 days stay—–Mathura——Kerala
According to Hindu scriptures the Supreme Personality of Godhead Sri Krishna was born in a prison cellar in Mathura to Vasudev and Devaki but raised by His foster parents Nandagopa and Yashodha in Vrindavan otherwise called VrajaBhoomi. Situated on the banks of River Yamuna, this playground of Lord Krishna has gained worldwide recognition as a prominent pilgrimage centre for Hindus in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
‘Vrindavan’ as to ’Brindaban’ to the people of Vraja, translated as the forest of Thulasi (Brindha), where all the most favourite places and past times of Krishna still exist. With regards to the affirmation of scriptures and prominent acharyas who come from the lineage of disciplic succession, this earthly Vrindavan is the reflection of the Supreme abode of Sri krishna, Goloka Vrindavana. The main highlights include Krishna’s Janmasthan in Mathura, then the Lord’s beloved Radharani’s palace where she was born to, Govardhana – the mighty mountain where all the lovable past times of krishna took place, Radhakund and Shyamakund – the pond made by Radha and Krishna with water from all the sacred rivers directly from heaven, Nidhivan – the divine forest where the rasaleela was performed and whatnot. The prime importance lies in three temples where the body of idol Krishna resembles the body of Original Krishna. It is said that anyone who sees the three deities in Vrindavan is as fortunate as to see the Supreme Lord directly.
Acharyas say that Vrindavan had disappeared into the pages of history over time. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the secret incarnation of Lord Krishna himself rediscovered the sacred forests of Vrindavan during the 16th century in his quest for divine love towards Radha and Krishna. With His spiritual power, He was able to locate all the places in and around Vrindavan that were associated with Lord Krishna’s transcendental pastimes.
In addition to visiting these places we will also be tapping into the essence of Vrindavan with Sri Krishna Katha and Kirtan. As Srila Prabhupada once said:” Oh you can become more Krishna conscious in one day in Vrindavan than in ten years in any place around earth.”
